to say i was excited for this shoot would be an understatement! i woke up today bright and early and was on pinterest all day preparing photography ideas for these ladies! then i relaxed remembering that i had two beautiful, smart, loving girls coming who i could count on to go with the flow and just get ideas as we went. 

i was super happy when i was planning this shoot, to say the least. knowing who was coming and where we were shooting i had no doubt about any aspect of this day. it was like a clean slate for me. something i rarely have! it was like a breath of fresh air when they both arrived on time and looking fabulous! it is still a shock to me that i have these two splendid girls as friends. i actually had to pinch myself a few times today thinking about it. how much they have been there for me and been just wonderful people to be around.

just a wonderful golden hour with two lovely girls. they have been my friend for about a year now. and i just adore them. they are both so beautiful & such a wonderful pair of girls to have around whenever you need anything. to say they are amazing is an understatement. they literally brighten my day when i see them! it makes me feel so blessed and hopeful for the friendships i share with them. 

today was spectacular! i couldn't be more happier with the turnout and the outcome of this shoot & these girls!

i will never get tired of driving out to Fremont or where ever, and taking photographs of my little cousins! i just can't see how i will ever go a year without taking them. it brightens my heart to see them altogether and then apart. i love each of their different personalities & how they all have so much energy & love inside. they might be a crazy bunch, but they are such a blessing to me and my whole family.

this year my aunt knew exactly where she wanted to do them. so i got to her house early with my two venti gingerbread lattes & my camera ready to capture the sparkle in their eyes. she was a little late but, thats life! we all went in her car over to this little spot. i first took each of the kids individually, love getting to be alone with them finding out who they are alone without their siblings. it is really a different experience! then they all got together and that was when the fun really begun. once you put them all together it's madness! but beautiful, lovely, darling madness. the kind i LOVE! i can't wait for next year's session!

While, in photo 2 with nothing to do; why not write a post on the blog I barely ever post on. Here are some of the photographs I took for my photography project. We had to go and shoot old houses & all the little details they have. I enjoyed this because, I love old buildings & I enjoy the little details of things. I hope you enjoyed the mini photo sesh. :)

I went to this little town called Volcano. it is really little you walk around the block & you are done. I loved it! It was so cool to look at the old houses & little hotel. You can just see the love & kindness in this little town just by walking around the town.

Get to know me:

I am a mommy to 3 little sprites all girls, I am a wife to amazingly supportive man. We live in Santa Cruz, Ca a little surf town. I was born and raised mostly in Boulder, Colorado. I miss the snow so much but am pretty content with my toes in the sand here! I am a dreamer who flourishes in the sunshine and loves being outdoors. I love having all girls, and running around in the woods and the beach with them.

Questions:
Whats in your camera bag?

Canon 7D body, 50mm 1.4 lens, 35mm lens, Lensbaby Composer, Canon A-1 film camera, film, 50mm 1.4 FD lens, diapers and coloring books. As well as a spot for a 24mm 3.5 tilt shift!

What Camera/Equipment did you start out with?

A minolta in high school, my first digital camera was an Canon Rebel Xsi.

What sparked your passion for Photography?

My 3 little girls sparked my passion for Photography. I am so inspired by how magical childhood is and how fleeting it is and wanted to capture all the magic in their reality. To be able to capture the candid love, wonder, beauty and silliness in people makes my heart swell knowing they will be able to look at it and see the neat moments in their lives.

Describe your style in 3 words.

I would say whimsical, enchanting and warm.

Have you attended college or had any formal education in Photography?

I went to college to pursue a nursing degree and put it on hold to raise my children. Nope, no formal training in photography, I am self taught and constantly learning and being inspired.

Favorite time of day to shoot is?

About an hour before sunset, the golden hour. So dreamy and warm. I am a flare junkie and love to play with light and the mood.

What would your dream session be like?

A half hour before sunset, vintage quilts and frocks, a family twirling together in the sunshine. Lots of giggles and pure connections.

What was your first official Photographer crush if you had one?

Tara Whitney. Her work is so fresh and real. Love it!

How do you push yourself to keep growing and learning?

I have surrounded myself with such supportive, talented people that inspire me everyday. I also really want to set an example for my little ones to grow, learn and flourish in whatever their passions are.

Most valued material possession:

Photos of my children and their artwork.

If you had to stop taking photos right now, what would you do instead?

A mommy first then continuing my nursing degree slowly.

What kind of photos do you like to take for just yourself when not working with clients?

Everyday moments of my children. Their silliness and the candid moments of our everyday life even if it’s regular routine or our being silly, their connections… our real life.
